This intensive course focuses on painting the human figure, with special emphasis on the nude, explored through light, value, and colour.
We approach the body as a pictorial landscape—studying planes, temperature shifts, rhythms, and subtle transitions. The goal is not simply to paint what we see, but to understand how light and color give form and presence to the figure.
Participants will work directly from a life model, developing a deeper, more conscious, and expressive approach to figurative painting.
Who is this course for?
This course is designed for students with prior experience in drawing or painting who wish to expand their practice and strengthen a more pictorial and thoughtful understanding of the human figure.
Born in Extremadura, Spain, Tony studied Fine Arts at the University of Salamanca, specializing in drawing. Later, he entered the Barcelona Academy of Art, where after completing his training, he joined the teaching staff. After a brief stint at the Academy of Art Germany, in Bad Homburg, Germany, he returned to Catalonia, where he currently teaches drawing and painting at the Estudi Artístic de Barcelona. His personal work, inspired by Impressionism and characterized by a naturalistic approach, delves into the intersubjective relationship of the body with others and its environment as a vector for consideration and analysis of the paradoxes and tensions that permeate the contemporary individual.
